Julie Western is the office and program director for the Stroke Recovery Association of Manitoba. She mentions that one of the things they do is art therapy. Its clear that art therapy supports stroke survivors. She mentions it helps stroke sufferers with hand-eye coordination, creativity and expression of emotions and communicating what they are going through. Each week participants use new mediums to do art therapy. They may be watercolour, acrylics or pastels or glue gun art. Western says, “I think it’s important for the community to get around people who struggle through different ways. It’s important to show that they can still do things, be creative, and be a part of our community.”
