Mandala Workshop Art Therapy Guelph

Springtime is when we focus on releasing the old and cultivating something new.

Join me, for a fun, soul-lifting, positivity-focused art-making experience. The focus is on new beginnings and renewal.

During this 3 hour workshop, we will be creating a mandala. Through our artmaking, we'll reflect on our life, the past few years and our future goals. Just like gardeners who plant seeds in the spring, this group will be planting seeds of hope, intentions and inspiration in our artmaking. Get ready to cultivate a life reflecting your values!

Spring is proof that there is beauty in new beginnings.

This group is limited to six participants. Our focus is spring renewal and using folklore and storytelling to inspire participants’ creative thinking. We will be focusing on a mental spring cleaning, letting go of the old to make space for the new. Using art we will be setting our intentions for the new season ahead. It will be artmaking that enhances reflection and re-affirms our goals or purpose.

What is a mandala? Mandala art has been used for 1000’s of years in many cultures and religions. Creating mandalas has been proven to be healing and enlightening. They remind us of the impermanence of life and the need to accept change, dormancy and growth. It provides a sense of calm, focus and insight. (Bulchater S., Mandala Symbolism and Techniques).

Mandalas are round pieces of artwork. Historically they have been created using repetitive geometric designs. However, our mandala workshop focuses on free expression. Artistic ability is not required to participate. This is not an art lesson per se but free expression. Our mandala art can be created using whatever materials one chooses such as paint, pastels or collage. It can be any images, colours, textures, lines or shapes one desires.

The workshop will be focused on a mental spring cleaning, a positive forecast for our lives in various areas, like mind, body and spirit.
